National Park of Dajt
The National Park of Dajt is located 26 km east of Tirana. It covers an area of 3300 hectares of Dajt’s plateau. This park attracts many visitors and is an appropriate place for a family picnic, sports, games and other activities.
This park has a rich and diverse variety of flora and fauna. The dense vegetation makes it one of the greenest areas in our city. The National Park of Dajt is known for its forests which can be divided into the Mediterranean bush with the evergreen plants such as heather and mare, and a tier of hornbeam, oak and beech. The Dajt forest is considered untouched by man with great scientific and ecological value.
The fauna of Dajt Park is composed by eight mammal species: bear, wolf, rabbit, hedgehog, otter, squirrel and several types of bats; eleven species of birds, three types of eagles, owls, four types of woodpeckers, the mountain grouse, seven reptile species, four amphibians species and many more.
This protected area is one of the most populated national parks in Albania. The park is known for its opportunities to practice climbing on the rocky slopes, different routes in the park, skiing down to Qershia Saddleback, etc. The special touristic values are related to the healthy climate, fresh air, the dense forest, and the wonderful landscapes that are unfolded from its heights as Tirana, the Erzen field, Durrësi and the Adriatic Sea.
You can go to Dajt Mountain following the automotive road or using the cable car.
